This Privacy Policy explains how Duruno (“Duruno,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), operated by Veda Growth Inc., collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our iOS mobile app and related web pages, including shared book-list pages.

Duruno is a book (wish) list app. It lets users create book lists, share those lists with people they choose, and help recipients find merchant links to buy books outside of Duruno. Duruno does not sell books directly, process payments, or handle checkout.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

When you create or use a Duruno account, we collect information needed to operate your account, such as:

  • your email address, used for login, authentication, account security, and essential account-related communication;
  • your display name, if you choose to set one;
  • account identifiers and authentication/session information needed to keep you signed in and secure.

Your display name is optional and is used within your Duruno account. Your display name and login email are not shown to people who view a shared list.

Book list information

Duruno lets you create lists made up of books. In the current version of the app, list content is primarily book-related information, such as:

  • list type (Wishlist, Want to Read, or Favorites);
  • selected books;
  • book title;
  • book author;
  • book cover image;
  • ISBN or other book identifiers;
  • book availability or merchant-link information, where available;
  • coordination status related to shared-list use.

In the current version of Duruno, users do not create custom list titles, list notes or descriptions, custom book entries, or user-uploaded list or book images.

Shared-list and recipient activity

When you share a Duruno list, people with the active shared link or QR code can open the shared web page and view the book list you chose to share.

When someone opens or interacts with a shared list, we may collect limited activity information needed to make the shared-list feature work and understand basic usage, such as:

  • shared list views;
  • shared item or book page views;
  • merchant link clicks;
  • coordination actions on shared items, where available;
  • timestamps and related technical information;
  • first-party anonymous or session identifiers used for shared-page functionality, backend analytics, and click correlation.

Recipients do not need a Duruno account to view a shared list. We do not show your display name or login email to recipients. Anonymous or session identifiers used for backend web analytics and click correlation are not displayed to list owners.

Merchant link and outbound click information

Duruno may show links to third-party merchants where books may be available. When you or a recipient clicks a merchant link from a shared web page, we may log information about that outbound click, such as:

  • the shared list or book item involved;
  • the merchant or offer selected;
  • the time of the click;
  • basic technical information;
  • an anonymous or browser session identifier, where needed for backend web analytics or click correlation.

This helps Duruno operate merchant-link features, measure whether links are useful, prevent abuse, and improve reliability.

Some merchant links on Duruno’s public web experience are affiliate links. Duruno participates in the Amazon Associates program for supported Amazon links in the United States and Canada and may earn a commission from qualifying purchases, at no additional cost to you. Purchases, payment, shipping, returns, merchant accounts, and merchant tracking are handled by the merchant, not Duruno.

Book catalog and search information

Duruno uses book catalog information to help users find and add books to lists. When you search beyond Duruno’s existing catalog, the search query is processed through Duruno’s server-side systems and may be sent to a third-party book data provider so we can retrieve relevant book metadata, such as title, author, cover image, ISBN, and related book details.

Duruno does not store raw search queries as a user search-history feature. We may retain limited analytics metadata about searches, such as query length and result counts, to operate and improve the app.

Duruno may also use third-party book data services to resolve or verify catalog and ISBN information. Book cover images may be hosted by third-party image providers, so your device or browser may connect to those providers when a cover image is loaded.

Support communications

If you contact us for support, privacy questions, feedback, or other requests, we collect the information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, and message content. We use this information to respond to you and support the service.

Support forms may open your email app with a message prepared for you. You can review and edit that message before sending it.

Device permissions and media

Duruno does not currently provide profile-photo uploads, custom file or image uploads, or custom book-image uploads, and it does not request access to your camera or photo library for those features.

Duruno does not require access to your contacts, precise location, camera, photo library, microphone, health data, payment card information, or advertising tracking identifier for the current version of the app.

Technical, analytics, and diagnostic information

We may collect technical and usage information needed to operate, secure, debug, and improve Duruno, such as:

  • app version;
  • device or browser type;
  • operating system;
  • timestamps;
  • screens or pages opened;
  • feature usage events;
  • error reports;
  • crash logs;
  • stack traces and related diagnostic context.

Diagnostic information is used to find and fix bugs, improve reliability, and protect the service. It is not collected for advertising.

Duruno may use third-party application monitoring and error-tracking services to process diagnostic information for crash and error analysis. These services are configured to limit the collection of personal and sensitive information.

For security, rate limiting, and abuse prevention, Duruno may temporarily process network addresses. Duruno does not retain raw IP addresses in its rate-limit records; instead, it keeps a one-way derived identifier for a short period.

Hosting and infrastructure providers may independently process and retain ordinary request logs, including network addresses, under their own retention practices.

2. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • create and manage user accounts;
  • authenticate users and keep accounts secure;
  • provide book list and sharing features;
  • display shared lists to people who have the active link;
  • operate book catalog and search features;
  • operate merchant-link and affiliate-link features;
  • understand basic app usage and improve the product;
  • detect, debug, and fix technical issues;
  • prevent abuse, misuse, or security problems;
  • respond to support, legal, and privacy requests;
  • comply with applicable legal obligations.

3. Shared Lists

Duruno is designed to help you share book wishlists with people you choose, such as friends, family, or loved ones.

When you share a list link or QR code, anyone who has that active link may be able to view the shared list page. This does not mean your list is promoted publicly by Duruno, but the link should be treated like any shareable web link: people you send it to may be able to open it, and they may forward it to others.

Duruno configures shared list pages, shared item pages, and related public surfaces to discourage search-engine indexing and archiving. These controls do not prevent a person with the link from accessing or forwarding it.

Shared list viewers may see information such as:

  • the list type (Wishlist, Want to Read, or Favorites);
  • the books on the list;
  • book covers and book metadata;
  • item or coordination status, where available;
  • merchant buying options, if available.

Shared list viewers do not see your display name or login email.

If Duruno offers controls to disable, expire, regenerate, or make a shared link private, those controls can limit future access to that shared link. However, we cannot control whether someone copied, screenshotted, forwarded, or otherwise saved information while the link was active.

4. Third-Party Merchants

Duruno may link to third-party merchant websites. These websites are not operated by Duruno.

When you click a merchant link:

  • you leave Duruno and interact with the merchant directly;
  • the merchant’s own privacy policy and terms apply;
  • the merchant may collect information from your browser or device under its own practices;
  • Duruno does not process your payment, shipping address, order, return, or merchant account information.

Duruno does not intentionally send your Duruno login email to merchants through ordinary merchant links.

Merchant prices are currently not displayed by default in Duruno. Availability and offer details may change, and the merchant’s website is the source of truth for current price, availability, and purchase terms. Always confirm final details on the merchant’s website before purchasing.

5. Service Providers

We use third-party service providers to help operate Duruno. These providers may process information on our behalf for purposes such as:

  • authentication and account login;
  • database hosting;
  • app and web hosting;
  • security;
  • diagnostics and crash/error monitoring;
  • support communications and account-deletion confirmation email delivery;
  • internal analytics and reliability measurement;
  • book catalog lookup and metadata retrieval.

These service providers may process information as needed to provide their services to Duruno and support the operation, security, delivery, and improvement of the app.

6. Local Storage and Similar Technologies

Shared web pages may use browser local storage, session storage, or similar browser-based storage to keep first-party anonymous or session identifiers. These identifiers support shared-list functionality, backend analytics, click correlation, abuse prevention, and reliability. They are not displayed to list owners.

Duruno does not use third-party advertising cookies or ad network tracking for the current version of the app.

7. When We Share Information

We may share information in the following limited ways:

With people you choose to share a list with

When you send someone a Duruno list link or QR code, that person can view the shared list information available at that link.

With service providers

We share information with service providers that help us run, secure, host, debug, and support Duruno.

With book catalog providers

When you search beyond Duruno’s existing catalog, we may send the search query through our server-side systems to a third-party book data provider to retrieve book metadata. We may also use third-party book data services to resolve or verify catalog and ISBN information.

With merchants when you leave Duruno

When you click a merchant link, you interact directly with that merchant’s website. Duruno may log the outbound click, but the merchant controls what happens on its own website.

For legal, safety, or security reasons

We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or a valid government request, or if we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, security, or the integrity of Duruno.

Business transfers

If Duruno is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate protections.

We do not sell personal information for advertising purposes.

8. Data Retention

We keep information for as long as needed to provide Duruno, operate the service, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our terms.

In general:

  • account and profile information is kept while your account is active;
  • book list information is kept while your account or lists remain active;
  • security and rate-limit records are kept only for a short period as needed for abuse prevention and service protection;
  • shared-list activity, anonymous web analytics, merchant click logs, and diagnostic logs may be kept as needed for operations, security, analytics, and debugging;
  • after account deletion, identifiers that link analytics records to the account are scrubbed, user-specific rate-limit records are removed, and outbound merchant click records are anonymized as appropriate;
  • anonymous aggregate analytics may remain after de-identification because they are no longer linked to the deleted account; and
  • infrastructure and service providers may retain their own technical logs or records under their respective retention practices.

9. Account Deletion

You can permanently delete your Duruno account from within the app.

When your account is deleted, Duruno deletes your account, profile, lists, and list items. Duruno also scrubs identifiers that link analytics records to your account, removes user-specific rate-limit records, and anonymizes outbound merchant click records as appropriate.

Anonymous aggregate analytics and other de-identified records may remain after they can no longer be associated with your deleted account. Infrastructure or diagnostic records already held by service providers may also remain under those providers’ retention practices, and records may be retained where required by law.

After account deletion, Duruno uses a third-party email delivery service to send a confirmation message to the email address associated with the deleted account. The provider receives the email address as needed to deliver that message.

Duruno does not currently offer a self-serve downloadable export of all account data inside the app. You may contact us at myduruno@gmail.com for privacy-related requests.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical, administrative, and organizational measures to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You are responsible for controlling who you share your list links with and for keeping your account access secure.

11. Children’s Privacy

Duruno is not intended for children under 13, or under any higher age required by applicable law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Duruno, contact us at myduruno@gmail.com so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

12. International Processing

Duruno may be operated from, and information may be processed in countries other than where you live. Privacy laws in those countries may differ from the laws in your location.

Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international processing and transfers.

13. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain uses of your personal information.

You can update some account information directly in the app. You can also contact us at myduruno@gmail.com to make a privacy request.

We may need to verify your identity before responding to certain requests.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the effective date above. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice where required.
